Mike Muller

Mike Muller, Head Coach

Muller joined the Minnesota Loons in 2021 as the head coach. Prior to the Loons, Muller has head an extensive career of playing and coaching hockey. He was drafted in the 2nd round of the 1990 NHL Entry Draft by the Winnipeg Jets out of Wayzata High School in Plymouth, Minnesota and played for the University of Minnesota between 1990 und 1992. Muller continued playing professional hockey in both Russia and Germany until 2010.

In his early coaching career, Muller worked at the youth level, coaching the under-20 squad of Italian club HC Eppan in 2011–12. He then returned to Ravensburg, where he had spent three years as a player, taking over as youth coach while also serving as assistant on the club’s men’s team in the second German division. Prior to the 2015–16 season, Muller was appointed head coach of ESV Kaufbeuren, a member of Germany’s second-tier DEL2.

Kyle Koopmeiners

Kyle Koopmeiners, Assistant GM

Koopmeiners, a native of St. Cloud, MN begins his first season as Assistant GM of the Loons for the 23-24 season. Koopmeiners joined the Loons before the start of the 2021 season as a Regional Scout. Since then he has moved into different roles within the organization such as, Director of Scouting, and Director of Player Personnel.

Prior to joining the Loons, Koopmeiners coached youth hockey and AAA teams in St. Cloud while attending St. Cloud State University where he graduated in 2018.

Koopmeiners resides in Northern Minnesota and coaches high school hockey for the Grand Rapids Thunderhawks.

Kegan Couture

Kegan Couture, Assistant Coach

Kegan grew up in Pequot Lakes, MN and played his high school career with the Northern Lakes Lightning. After high school, Kegan went out west to play for the Bozeman Icedogs in the NA3HL where he played for three years and became the franchise leader in points. He then continued on to play his college hockey at Gustavus Adolphus College for four years and graduated in 2020. After college, Kegan returned to the area and helped coach the Northern Lakes Lightning to their first ever state tournament appearance. He is now going into his third year with the Minnesota Loons.
